YOGA FLOW- No prior yoga experience needed  but this class does require being able to sit comfortably in a cross-legged position for some time -


Drop-in class
- Monday - 7:30 to 8:30 am
- Wednesday - 6:00 to 7:00 pm
- Friday - 7:30 to 8:30 am


 

A fluid and grounding practice at a pace that allows awareness of movements, body sensations and breathing. My teaching includes an infusion of Vinyasa and Hatha yoga blended with my own creative practice of yoga.

This class is for those wishing to explore playfully the effects of postures, conscious breathing and meditation on the body and the mind. From times to times you may explore your limits but always in a safe way and when you feel ready.

How is a yoga class going?

Generally, the yoga classes start with a little meditation and pranayama (breathwork) and warm-up postures, to stretch the body and activate the joints.

Then we continue with standing and seated asanas (yoga postures). The focus of the classes is on noticing sensations and exploring choices.

There are no physical assists. The instructions given are invitations to explore your own shape from the suggested shape.

We always finish with savasana, a relaxing pose, to cool the mind and the body.

The classes are light-hearted using a variety of tools like yoga shapes, breathwork, cognitive exercises, reading, meditation, and group discussion.

These classes are trauma-informed classes.

What do you need?

Props and mats are available for you in the studio.

There is no need to wear tight stretchy leggings and tops. The only thing that matters is that you wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in.

As you move through a class you can get warm so it’s good to wear clothes that keep you cool, but bring a jumper for relaxation, when the body rapidly cools down.

GENTLE YOGA- No prior yoga experience needed -


Drop-in class - Wednesday - 10:30 to 11:30 am


 

Yoga doesn't need to be complicated to be effective. This gentle Yoga class is a fantastic opportunity to exercise for people who don't want or have difficulty getting down on the floor and prefer the support of a chair. It also a class suitable for people who have difficulty bearing weight on their wrists following an accident or because of osteoarthritis.

How is a gentle yoga class going?

We start the class sitting on a chair doing joint rotations, gentle forward bends, spine twists and stretching arms and legs.

When we stand, we practice balance poses with one or both hands on the back of the chair as support. For younger and more active seniors we’ll just use the chair as an optional prop.

We don’t lie down on our fronts or backs like in a regular yoga class.

Most of the time, classes include breathwork exercises to increase awareness of breathing and lung capacity.

At the end of the class, we always take the time to do a conscious relaxing.

Before starting a yoga practice, a general check-up with a doctor is recommended, especially for anyone who has not exercised for some time or who has ongoing health problems such as high blood pressure, heart condition or osteoporosis.

What do you need?

Comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Don't wear anything tight around the waist. This will bother your stomach during some of the bending or twisting movements.

It's also nice to be barefoot so you can move your ankles and toes freely.
